Bespoke Hair and Beauty in Barrow will be shutting up shop in Crellin Street, it has been announced.

The salon will be permanently closed as Bespoke Hair and Beauty from March 1.

Owner Becca Davies has run the business for the last six years and said she would be ‘forever grateful’ for the public support.

In a post shared online, she said: “It is with a smile on my face that I make this announcement after lots of consideration I have decided to close Bespoke Hair Salon.

“Last year I began the biggest role in my life being a mother and quickly realised this is where my heart lies and where I need to be.

“Working two days a week within my own business is not giving the salon the best of me and I’m not one for doing things by halves.

“I’ve had some wonderful years owning the salon since 2017 and will be forever grateful for the support Bespoke has received by the public.”

Owners hinted there may be plans for the salon in the near future which are yet to be announced.

Becca said: “The salon has a bright future ahead of it yet to be announced in the near future which I could not be happier for.

“I will be continuing my hairdressing journey with the wonderful team at Coco Hair and Beauty, Barrow located on Dalton Road from March 1.

“Jennie Hargreaves will be working from Zest Hair and Beauty located on Bowness Road, Barrow from March 1

“Once again thank you to all the clients that have supported Bespoke’s journey the past six years – I will be forever grateful.”

Cherise Amore Hair and Beauty and Revolution Hair and Beauty are both up for awards at the Welsh Hair and Beauty Awards in the North Wales catagory with both salons nominated for the title of Hair and Beauty Salon of the Year.

Jade Bartie, owner of Revolution Hair and Beauty based on Griffiths Square in Mold said: “We as a team are absolutely thrilled to become a finalist for the Welsh Hair and Beauty Awards.

“Since the change of ownership back in November, we have worked so hard to upgrade and develop our staff and premises.

Meanwhile, Cherise Amore Hair and Beauty, located on New Street are also in the running for the title of Salon of the Year. 

Cherise Amore will be looking to build on last year’s success following their awarding of Gold Salon of the Year for Wales at the 2022 British Hair and Beauty Awards. 

Salon owner, Cherise Davies said: “We were very fortunate to have won Gold Salon of the Year in Wales 2022 with the British Hair and beauty awards.

“The team work so hard to keep a high standard of work and education, so to be nominated and recognised again for such a prestigious accolade gives us the recognition they truly deserve.”

 

Annamarie Allen began her first business venture when “AMA Total Beauty” started trading yesterday (February 20).

Her salon is based on St Asaph Avenue, at the site previously occupied by “Gossip Girl Beauty Salon”, which closed earlier this month.

An open day on Saturday (February 18) also proved a great success for Annamarie, who has worked in the industry for nearly one year.

She said: “It went absolutely incredibly; so much better than we thought it would.

“We had people pop in randomly, who had seen the newspaper article, and they booked treatments, which was great.

“Yesterday was phenomenal; again, lots of people just walked in for treatments. It was so good; the atmosphere in Saturday was electric; like something I’ve never seen before.

“Everybody was saying how beautiful the salon looked, and how well we’d done to get it ready in such a short space of time. We did it all in eight days.

“Just seeing the place full was my highlight. To take a step back and think: ‘That’s my salon; I’ve pulled it off’. It really was quite overwhelming; I didn’t want to lock up!

“It was so nice that people just came along and supported us; I can’t thank them enough for doing that.”

Gossip Girl confirmed its closure last month which, in a post on its Facebook page, it said was due to financial constraints.

The Place Hair and Beauty, located on Knowsley Street and which is also accessible from within the Market Place, is up for a prize at the UK Hair and Beauty Awards after making the shortlist in the ‘Best New Salon’ category in Bolton.

Owner of the salon, Abi Quigley, said: “Our current customers mention how we greet them and make them feel welcome. We don’t make them feel judged or look them up and down from the moment they walk in. 

“They feel important and listened to and our staff are not over the top in appearance and this makes customers feel less conscious about themselves when they come in.

“We do a variety of styles. I get so many ladies with short hair telling me how hard it is to find someone who can cut short hair and many hairdressers won’t do it.

“What makes our salon different is the amount of skill in lots of different services and different types of clients.

“We are hijab friendly, and I have worked and done market research in many parts of the world by having my own hair done by hairdressers in parts of the world I visit to see if I can take things away to my own salon.

“We are also a finalist in the Bolton Women in Business Awards.”

To celebrate being shortlisted the salon will be hosting an event on Saturday, March 11 between 2pm and 5pm.

Attendees will get a voucher which will give them £10 off services more than £50.
