Meghan Markle skips engagement ring second time amid concerns for Diana’s diamonds

Meghan Markle was spotted without the iconic jewellery piece during her appearance with Prince Harry in New York, five months after their alleged ‘catastrophic car chase’ incident.

While the Duchess of Sussex had been wearing a wedding band while addressing the audience on Tuesday for their mental health summit, she was notably missing her engagement ring.

Prince Harry had proposed to the former Suits actress in 2017 with a three-stone diamond ring. The ring’s design, which Harry designed himself, featured a big diamond that was sourced from Botswana along with two smaller diamonds from Princess Diana’s collection.

During the Invictus Games, last month, Meghan also chose to skip the ring and stick to her wedding band for the 8-day event in Düsseldorf, Germany.

With the ongoing speculation regarding why Meghan ditched the ring for the second time, Joanna Wyganowska Design expert and Gemologist at Queensmith told The Mirror of “very good reasons.”

Wyganowska shared that the ring, estimated to be upwards of $200,000, is “invaluable and extremely sentimental,” which means she may opt to avoid wearing it for “fear of damage or loss.”

She explained that it’s “very common” to get rings serviced or resized over the years.

“An engagement ring is something that may be worn every single day and therefore can become damaged for example a setting may come loose,” she said. “As Harry proposed to Meghan six years ago, it may very well be that she is simply getting the ring serviced.”

Previously, sources revealed that Prince William is “putting the word out through mutual friends that he wants to know what’s going on” with the ring as “not knowing where they are is disturbing” for him, per insiders for New Idea.

I’ve been divorced for 8 years and I still wear my engagement ring. It reminds me of how far I’ve come.

  • When I got engaged I loved my ring so much.

  • When my marriage ended my ex didn’t ask for the ring back and I didn’t offer it.

  • I still wear it as a reminder of all the hard things I’ve done in the last decade.

“That’s a beautiful ring,” the cashier at the mall says as I slide a blouse across the counter.

I glance down at my right hand out of habit: five diamonds arranged in the shape of a flower set in white gold. It’s the most expensive piece of jewelry I own — the kind that gets passed down to a granddaughter or great-granddaughter on a special day, adorning fingers and jewelry boxes long after my name has faded to memory.

The cashier hands me my receipt. I mentally steel myself for the question I know is coming: “Where did you get it?”

It was my engagement ring

A decade ago, I sat across a restaurant table from the man I loved. Platters of sushi stretched between us, delicate slices of salmon and mango curling artistically around the rice. I couldn’t stop peeking at the new ring glittering on my finger. My future husband caught me looking and smiled. I’d never liked the idea of an over-the-top surprise proposal, which sounded more like an ambush than a romantic encounter. We’d simply talked and decided we were ready for the next step. I’d chosen the engagement ring; if I was going to wear it for the rest of my life, I wanted to decide what it looked like. Instead of a typical unwieldy solitaire that would forever get caught on sweaters, I’d fallen in love with a white gold five-diamond flower design. The ring symbolized our relationship:

Charity Lawson’s Engagement Ring Is A 3-Carat Neil Lane Sparkler

Before Dotun Olubeko proposed to Charity Lawson on The Bachelorette’s Aug. 21 season finale, he consulted with Bachelor Nation’s go-to jeweler, Neil Lane, to pick out the charity-lawsons-engagement-ring-details-exclusive-7724687″perfect engagement ring. Admitting to People that he “didn’t know much about rings” beforehand, when Lane pulled out a certain oval-cut sparkler in Fiji, he “just knew” he’d found the one. His final choice: a 3-carat diamond ring with a platinum band set with 50 round-cut diamonds.

As Dotun further explained to the magazine, Lane told him the sparkler is “beautiful on the outside” but its “biggest crystals” lie inside, where a stunning diamond halo wraps around the center stone. “I was like, ‘Did you make this for Charity? Is this a test?’” he joked. “And before [Lane] even finished going through the other ones, I was like, ‘I know that’s the one. That’s the one 100-percent because that’s who Charity is . . . Elegant and classy and beautiful on the outside as ever, but so much of the worth is on the inside.”

Charity’s reaction? “When he opened it, I was just like, ‘Oh my God.’ . . . I was honestly in shock,” she told People, adding that her now-fiancé did a “10 out of 10” job picking out her engagement ring. “It’s so beautiful. I honestly think it’s perfect for me, who I am as a woman.”

However, she and Dotun still have time to decide on their wedding bands. ABC’s Season 20 lead revealed that they “don’t have a date or anything truly picked out,” though they definitely don’t want a “17-year-length engagement” and are eyeing 2025 or 2026 for a possible wedding date. “We obviously came here to find love, and we successfully have done that,” she added. “So [we

Miss Manners: My fiance wants a diamond ring, even if the stone comes from Russia

DEAR MISS MANNERS: I am very much against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and I don’t want to support it by buying a diamond engagement ring, since the stone is likely to come from Russia.

I told my fiancee I would like to buy her a ruby, emerald or sapphire ring — her choice — but she says the only ring appropriate for an engagement is a diamond. What is your advice?

GENTLE READER: This is not the jewelry department, so Miss Manners cannot advise you on how to find a diamond with a clear provenance (or a lab-created one). But that is what you must do.

The reason is not because there is any etiquette rule about diamond rings. Frankly, we don’t even care if there is a ring, much less what type. Etiquette considers that all an engagement requires is an agreement between two people to be married. It is not we who invented that bended-knee routine.

But your fiancee craves this. And your marriage will go better if you acknowledge that while a spouse’s moral convictions should be respected, so should a spouse’s emotional longings.

**                                **                                **

DEAR MISS MANNERS: If one is dining alone at a restaurant and must burp, what should one do afterwards? It seems coarse to say nothing, but it seems odd to try to engage nearby diners.

By saying “excuse me,” would one be asking the salt shaker for a pardon?

GENTLE READER: Even if dining alone, one should say “excuse me.” Especially if the people at the next table jumped.

Please send your questions to Miss Manners at her website, www.missmanners.com; to her email, [email protected]; or through postal mail to Miss Manners, Andrews McMeel Syndication, 1130 Walnut St., Kansas City, MO 64106.

When Millie Bobby Brown hinted at her engagement to Jake Bongiovi on April 11, 2023, via Instagram, what really grabbed everyone’s attention was the glittering diamond ring on her left hand. Now, three days after the Stranger Things actress subtly announced the news, she’s giving fans an even closer look at her engagement ring. On April 13, 2023, Brown uploaded a video to announce her latest project, Florence by Mills Coffee, which she said has always been a dream of hers. At the end of the clip, the Enola Holmes star blew her followers a kiss, exhibiting a close-up shot of the sparkler.

According to Kathryn Money, SVP of merchandizing and retail expansion at Brilliant Earth, the star’s engagement ring appears to be a cushion-cut or round-cut diamond with a cushion-shaped halo on a pavé band. Money explains to Brides that the estimated price point of the ring costs anywhere between $75,000 to $100,000. Olivia Landau, GIA-certified gemologist and founder of The Clear Cut, told Page Six that the rock is between three to three-and-a-half carats. “Round [diamonds] are timeless, super classic, and will never go out of style,” she says.

Brown first revealed her engagement and gave her followers a glimpse at her diamond ring two days earlier. To share the news, she posted a black-and-white photo of herself and her fiancé, the son of musician Jon Bon Jovi, wrapping their arms around one another on the beach. The Damsel actress captioned the photo by quoting Taylor Swift’s song “Lover.” “I’ve loved you three summers now, honey,” she wrote. “I want ‘em all.”

I resized my engagement ring with this invisible $10 Amazon hack

Our team is dedicated to finding and telling you more about the products and deals we love. If you love them too and decide to purchase through the links below, we may receive a commission. Pricing and availability are subject to change.

Like any good newly engaged person, I will make sure everyone knows that I just got engaged. I am also a lifestyle editor by trade, meaning I will also make sure everyone knows the best secret (and budget-friendly) life hacks out there. And one of the best things I just spent my money on is this $10 engagement ring size adjuster from Amazon.

While I’m absolutely obsessed with my engagement ring (a solitaire round lab-grown diamond with a yellow gold band, even if you weren’t curious), it’s a half-size too big. Obviously, I’m wildly stressed about losing the ring. But I’m just not down with the idea of briefly parting with it to get it resized by a jeweler.

The quick and possibly permanent fix is the $10 Invisible Ring Size Adjuster for Loose Rings from Amazon. Basically, it’s a small clear piece of flexible and durable plastic that you “snap” onto the inside of your band. That’s literally all you need to do!

In my experience, the ring size adjuster feels like absolutely nothing on my finger. Honestly, I’ve forgotten that it’s there. While I still take my new engagement ring off while I shower and do my skin care routine, I can keep it on while sleeping and washing my hands.

The Invisible Ring Size Adjuster comes in a package with eight different ring sizers ranging from 1 millimeter to 10 millimeters. It also comes with a polishing cloth as an extra bonus. Who doesn’t love an extra polishing cloth just for,

Kate Middleton Didn’t Wear Her Engagement Ring and the Internet Is Freaking Out

When your engagement ring happens to be one of most iconic rings ever made, it’s no wonder the world keeps a close eye on it at all times.

That’s exactly why the internet was aflutter this week after Kate Middleton stepped out at the Commonwealth Games with hubby Prince William and Princess Charlotte, too. Sure, she was dressed to the nines in a white Alexander McQueen suit, but her ring finger was noticeably less blingy, adorned with only her gold wedding band vs. the sapphire and diamond sparkler that once belonged to Princess Diana and was passed down to her upon her engagement to William in 2010.

So, where was the ring? My co-host Roberta Fiorito and I discuss a zillion reasons for its absence on this week’s episode of the Royally Obsessed podcast (listen to it here!). No, it has nothing to do with marital troubles. Our main take: It was likely getting cleaned or had a stone in need of repair. But also, Kate has only been pictured without it a handful of times (for example, on this kate-middleton-didnt-wear-her-engagement-ring-during-todays-hospital-visit/” data-ylk=”slk:hospital visit in 2020″ class=”link “hospital visit in 2020 and engagement-ring-today/” data-ylk=”slk:again in 2018″ class=”link “again in 2018), which is why it always makes headlines when she’s pictured without it on.

On the flip side, Kate’s engagement ring was the subject of recent conversations for a very different reason: The risk she took while ring-scuba-diving” data-ylk=”slk:wearing it scuba diving in Belize during her royal tour of the Caribbean” class=”link “wearing it scuba diving in Belize during her royal tour of the Caribbean with Prince William. (For the record, the value of the ring is currently set at approximately half a million dollars.)
