Selena Gomez takes social media break after defending Taylor Swift as Hailey Bieber clip resurfaced

Selena Gomez has announced she is taking a break from social media after defending her ‘best friend’ Taylor Swift after old footage was unearthed of her being mocked by Hailey Bieber.

The 30-year-old most followed woman on Instagram took to TikTok Live on Thursday to reveal she is taking a sabbatical from the internet after receiving backlash for the perceived dig at the 26-year-old wife of Justin Bieber.

She said that she will not apologize for being who she is and is happy to be surrounded by the best friends and fans before making her declaration.

Selena said: ‘I’m gonna be taking a second from social media cause this is a little silly and I’m 30. I’m too old for this.

‘But I love you guys so much and I will see you guys sooner than later. I’m just going to have to take a break from everything.’
