Why did you decide to open your own salon? Tell me a bit about your salon/business
Having my own business has always been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. At the age of 19, during the first lockdown, I decided to bite the bullet and use all my free time to set up my own business. It wasn’t easy but it was the best decision I ever made. I wanted to grow as a person and be ready for the next step in my career. I already had a growing client base while I was employed at Perfections and Emma, the manager, offered me a desk to rent inside the salon. I love working with everyone inside the salon and as soon as I opened my own business, clients started recommending me to friends and family.

What’s your hair and beauty background?
I trained as a beauty technician at South Cheshire College in Crewe and went straight to Perfections to learn all about nails and improve my beauty knowledge and skills. I recently attended The Great British Hair and Beauty Awards as I was a finalist and I came second being highly commended as Nail Artist of the Year.
How has the Covid-19 pandemic affected your business?
I opened my business during the first lockdown and having to close so much during each lockdown was a difficult time. But thanks to the support from my loyal clients, I’m still here doing what I love!

What makes your business different to others in the same area/field? What sets your business apart from your competitors?
I work on my own but in a busy salon in Winsford. It’s a warm, welcoming salon and the atmosphere is always friendly. I’m always looking for ways to improve my business, venturing out to learn new treatments and make my business stand out. When I was highly commended in The Great British Hair and Beauty Awards, one of my clients said I was the most hardworking nail queen that she knows – that’s just amazing!
Why do loyal clients return to your business?
I have a strong clientele that I am extremely grateful for and they continue to recommend me and my business to everyone they know. Their support means so much to me and if it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be where I am now.
